Dermalux™ LED Light Therapy: Energy for your skin cells
Clinically proven light waves that act from the surface of the skin deep into the tissue. In our clinic, Dermalux is the culmination of many facial treatments and is included in the price. New: also available individually: CHF 120 per session or 5 sessions for CHF 500.

What is LED phototherapy?.
LED phototherapy uses light at precisely defined wavelengths to stimulate natural processes in the skin — without heat, without needles, and with no downtime.
Dermalux uses what is known as Tri-Wave technology: blue (415 nm), red (633 nm) and near-infrared light (830 nm). Each wavelength is absorbed by a different target in the skin, where it triggers a specific biological process. The light is non-thermal — you’ll just feel a pleasant warmth.
Dermalux is the final step in many facial treatments — after microneedling, peeling, or the boost, we apply the light to calm the skin and support regeneration. Included in the price of these treatments. Would you like Dermalux on its own? That’s also possible: CHF 120 per session (20 min.) or 5 sessions for CHF 500.

What happens inside the cell.
Every skin cell contains tiny powerhouses: the mitochondria. They produce the energy that powers the cell — a fuel called ATP.
Red and near-infrared light is absorbed by an enzyme in these power plants, which Cytochrome c oxidase. This acts like an energy boost: cellular respiration becomes more efficient, and the cell produces more ATP. With more energy, it can function more effectively — repairing, regenerating and producing collagen. At the same time, microcirculation improves and inflammatory signals are dampened. This is exactly what we mean when we say: Dermalux gets your mitochondria going.
Light hits the cell
Red and near-infrared light penetrates the skin, reaching as far as the mitochondria.
Cytochrome c oxidase absorbs it
The enzyme in the power plants absorbs light energy, making cellular respiration more efficient.
More ATP, more cellular energy
With more energy, cells repair and regenerate more effectively — and produce collagen.
Three light colours, three functions.
We select the wavelengths — individually or in combination — depending on the treatment and skin condition.

Questions about Dermalux LED.
The questions we’re asked most often — answered honestly.
What is LED phototherapy?
A non-invasive treatment using light at specific wavelengths to stimulate the skin’s natural processes. No heat, no needles, no downtime.
Can I book Dermalux as a standalone treatment?
Yes. You can book Dermalux individually: CHF 120 per session (20 minutes) or 5 sessions for CHF 500. In addition, Dermalux is the finishing touch to many facial treatments and is included in the price. We will discuss which treatment is right for you during the AURA 3D skin analysis.
Does it hurt?
No — you can feel at most a pleasant warmth. You can only feel a pleasant warmth and lie relaxed under the light.
Is there any downtime?
None. You'll be back to your normal routine straight away.
How often should I do it?
The light has a cumulative effect. Used at the end of each treatment, it aids recovery; for specific results, we recommend a course of treatment.
Is it safe? Do I need eye protection?
Yes, it is considered very safe and is suitable for all skin types, with no UV radiation whatsoever. You will wear protective goggles during the session.
Has the effect been scientifically proven?
LED phototherapy (photobiomodulation) has been extensively researched. Here are three examples from the specialist literature (via PubMed):
- In a randomised controlled trial involving 136 participants, red and near-infrared light administered over 30 sessions significantly improved skin appearance, skin roughness and collagen density (as measured by ultrasound) compared with the control group. Wunsch & Matuschka, Photomedicine and Laser Surgery 2014 — DOI
- A review article from Harvard Medical School describes how light is absorbed by the chromophores in the mitochondria and stimulates healing, collagen production and skin regeneration. Avci et al., Seminar in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery 2013 — PubMed
- A study on the mechanism of action identifies cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondria as the primary light acceptor and describes its anti-inflammatory effect. Hamblin, AIMS Biophysics 2017 — DOI
When is Dermalux not suitable?
If you are pregnant, we will discuss this with you beforehand, as we will in cases of photosensitivity or if you are taking photosensitising medication (e.g. certain antibiotics, isotretinoin, St John’s wort) and if you have active skin lesions. If you have epilepsy, please consult your doctor beforehand. If in doubt, we will discuss this during the consultation.
What makes alestetics® different?
We do not view Dermalux as an add-on service, but as an integral part of our treatments. Pre-ageing is our speciality; we tailor our treatments to the condition of the skin. The V-NISSG Team, Zurich HB.
Together, we’ll find the Dermalux treatment that’s right for you.
During the AURA 3D skin analysis, we assess your skin condition and determine which treatment — finishing with light therapy — is most suitable. 30 minutes, at the clinic.
