What is a medical facial treatment?
A medical facial treatment uses devices and active ingredients that work deeper than conventional cosmetics – for example, radiofrequency, microneedling, laser, or biostimulants. It improves skin quality, texture, complexion, and firmness in measurable ways, rather than just maintaining them. At alestetics®, it always starts with the free AURA 3D skin analysis.
Where should I start if I’ve never had a medical facial before?
With the AURA 3D skin analysis. You book online, come to see us for 60 minutes, we carry out the scan, discuss your goals and draw up a plan. It’s free, with no pressure to buy. Only then do you decide whether you want to go ahead with treatment, and if so, which one.
Which facial treatment is worth it?
The treatment that solves a measured problem is worth it. A single treatment brings a glow for a special occasion. Visible changes in pores, texture, or firmness occur over several sessions. Therefore, we prefer to plan three proper treatments rather than five random ones.
What is the most effective facial treatment?
There is no one most effective treatment. The treatment that best suits your skin condition usually involves a combination of methods: for example, a pre-treatment peel followed by microneedling or deep radiofrequency, followed by active ingredients and LED light therapy. Which treatment is right for you is determined by the AURA 3D skin analysis.
How many sessions will it take before I see results?
That depends on the treatment and your skincare goals. HydraFacial gives you an instant glow. Vivace, SkinPen and BioRePeel are carried out in courses — usually 3 to 5 sessions for visible structural changes. Volnewmer works after just one session, with cumulative effects becoming apparent after three months.
How often should you have a professional facial treatment?
In the initial phase, it is usually done every 4 weeks, because the skin renews itself at this rhythm. After that, a maintenance treatment is sufficient every 2 to 3 months. Volnewmer® is usually repeated once a year.
How much does a facial treatment cost in Zurich?
Classical cosmetic facial treatments in Zurich often cost around CHF 150 to 250. Medical facial treatments with equipment are more expensive. At alestetics®, they start at CHF 250 (HydraFacial™, Peels), Microneedling and Laser cost CHF 300 to 600, Volnewmer® RF-Lifting from CHF 1'600. What is the difference between BioRePeel® and PRX-T33®?
Both are exfoliants that do not cause visible peeling. BioRePeel® contains TCA 35% and combines exfoliation, biostimulation and revitalisation — a well-balanced formula suitable for year-round use.
PRX-T33® goes deeper (TCA 33% combined with hydrogen peroxide) and has a stronger lifting effect as well as Kojic acid against pigments. Which one is right depends on your goal. — for pigments or desired lifting, we tend to use PRX; for overall skin quality, we use BioRePeel.
What is the difference between SkinPen® and Vivace® RF microneedling?
SkinPen® is FDA-cleared, purely mechanical microneedling — no heat, safe for all skin tones. Ideal for acne scars and darker skin.
Vivace® adds radiofrequency, which enables deeper collagen remodelling and skin tightening. More effective for sagging skin and deeper lines. We’ll determine which device is right for you during the AURA 3D analysis.
Is there any downtime?
It depends on the treatment. HydraFacial, Dermadrop, BioRePeel and PRX-T33 have zero downtime — you go right back to your daily routine. Vivace and SkinPen have mild redness for one to three days. Stellar M22 IPL usually shows mild redness for one to two days. At LaseMD Ultra, most people usually don’t see any redness, but fine crusts that fall off by themselves after 4–6 days. Volnewmer and EXILIS Face have no downtime. For combination treatments, we discuss the timeframe beforehand.
What if my skin is very sensitive or prone to redness?
We adapt the treatment to your skin. Dermadrop TDA®, HydraFacial™ with soothing boosters, and Dermalux LED are our first steps for reactive skin. Stellar M22™ IPL is our main treatment for redness and broken capillaries — we avoid harsh peels here.
Do I need an AURA 3D analysis before every treatment?
No. The AURA 3D Analysis forms the basis of your personal plan and is reviewed once a year — or whenever there are significant changes. Between sessions, we discuss your progress and adjust the plan accordingly.
Who carries out the treatments?
Our team: Alexandra Stroganova (founder & pre-aging expert), Katia Leocata (medical beautician, skin expert) and Antonia Colella (medical beautician, laser and body expert) – all with a certificate of competence under V-NISSG. Advice available in German, English, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
